In 2004 the dominance of Team USA at Olympic Games was ended abruptly as the reigning champions were defeated by the eventual gold medalists Argentina in semi-finals and had to settle for bronze after defeating Lithuania.

This was a wake up call for USA Basketball. Mike Krzyzewski was put in charge of the team. It didn’t all go smooth at once. In 2006 the Americans finished third in FIBA World Championship.

A major effort was put to assemble the best NBA players for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in order for Team USA to return to the top.

Fast forward to the Olympic final in 2008 and the Americans faced off agains Spain led by prime-time Pau Gasol. In an epic final Team USA triumphed and claimed gold.

The Americans were labelled as the Redeem Team. That is the title of a new documentary which is set to premier on October 7.

Lakers superstar LeBron James, who was part of the 2008 Team USA and who took part in producing the documentary along with Dwyane Wade, is excited for it to come out.

“Yessir!!! Going to be a SPECIAL 1!!!” James tweeted in reaction to the announcement of the upcoming documentary.
