Kevin Porter Jr. and the Houston Rockets are interested in an extended partnership.

League sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic that both sides are indeed sharing mutual intentions to sign a contract extension before the 2022-2023 season. The 22-year-old swingman is entering the final year of his rookie contract, wherein he is slated to earn a $3.2MM salary.

Porter Jr. became the Rockets’ blossoming focal point and floor general of their future upon his 2021 landing in H-town.

In two seasons playing under their flag, he averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 boards, 6.2 assists in 41 percent shooting.

Porter Jr. was originally chosen by the Cavaliers for the 30th pick of the 2019 Draft.
