Andre Iguodala returned to the Warriors this past offseason and once he and the team made it to the NBA Finals. The 38-year-old veteran forward, who won three championships during his first stint with the Dubs, is playing a way less significant role this time around.

Ahead of Game 1, for which Iggy is listed as questionable due to a neck issues, he was asked about playing in the Finals. The veteran admitted that it’s been a tough year for his body and he is trying to be ready play if gets a chance but also understanding that he is contributing to the team in other ways besides playing.

“Just trying to finish the season walking on two feet. If I do that, it’s a successful season,” Iguodala said. “As you go to my goals coming back it is similar to my sentiments when I first signed with the team in 2013.

“It was the same thing – get us back to where we’re supposed to be. We’ve gotten back here. Huge accomplishment, but it doesn’t stop here for either team.

“Just doing everything I need to do around the clock. It’s been an interesting year with my body. Been using my brain a lot and understanding that’s a big part of the knitting that fabric and the fabric is who we are and what put on the floor. I know I play a big role in that.

“So, just understanding that you can have an impact in a myriad of different ways and just being ready in any way that I’ve been asked. So, if it’s on the court, and hopefully it is, just got to be ready and just keep hoping for, being optimistic with everything that’s going on with the body.”

The last time that Iguodala played in this year’s playoffs was Game 4 of the second round series against the Nuggets. This past season he averaged 4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 19.5 minutes per game.
