Al Horford is nothing but happy for Darvin Ham taking the next step in his coaching career.

In his NBA Finals media availability ahead of Game 1, Horford preached the Los Angeles Lakers for a wonderful job gaining the service of Ham.

“Darvin is about as good a guy as you’re going to see, a big competitor,” Horford said of Ham, via Celtics insider John Karalis. “Extreme competitor. The Lakers are really lucky to have a guy like him. He’s the kind of guy that you want.”

Horford witnessed the dedication of Ham as an assistant upon playing with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013 to 2016.

The rookie head coach has taken the strategic keys of the Lakers and is now facing a daunting challenge to guide them in a bounce back season.
