There were three clear front-runners for this year’s MVP award – Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo. It was the Serbian superstar who received the most votes and won his second consecutive MVP title.

The Greek Freak has already won his own back-to-back trophies, while Embiid is yet to win one. The Cameroonian center felt that this year he deserved the prestigious award.

His head coach Doc Rivers says that Embiid should be celebrated for what he did this season and that all of three MVP favorites deserved to win.

“I think we should celebrate Joel,” said Rivers. “Jokic is a worthy MVP, but so is Joel, and so is Giannis. Joel went through a lot this year, having to shoulder the load for most of the year, and he did that.”
