Should the NBA regular season end today, the Lakers would face the Pelicans in the play-in tournament with the loser getting eliminated from the playoffs.

New Orleans will likely be without Zion Williamson but former NBA player and current analyst Jay Williams does not think it makes a big difference. That is why he thinks that the best option for the Pelicans is to not play Zion this year and let him fully recover.

“I still think the Pelicans in a play-in scenario could beat the Los Angeles Lakers without Zion,” Williams said on Get Up. “And that’s my point. We’re talking about the Lakers not making the playoffs depending upon when AD comes back.

“If he’s coming back Windy, I don’t know what the hell is going on with that. But we’re all suddenly expecting the Lakers just to turn it on down the stretch? I know LeBron James can turn it on, I don’t if everybody else can turn it on around him to beat the Pelicans.”
