There is a chance that Kemba Walker might find his way again to the Charlotte Hornets.

Marc Berman of The New York Post reported on Friday that New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau has no clue about the current destination of Walker – who agreed mutually with the franchise during the All-star break to sit down for the rest of the season for the recovery purposes of his left knee.

Berman then noted that the former All-star has been training in Charlotte – the place where he started his NBA career as a Hornet – and in New York wherein he is traveling back and forth. There is a stated possibility that the 31-year-old guard may suit up once again for the North Carolina-based club in the future.

According to an NBA source, Walker has been training in Charlotte, N.C., his former home, and New York, shuttling back and forth. Walker’s mother still lives in the “Queen City,’’ and the Hornets could be a future destination as he played there eight seasons. The Knicks visit Charlotte on Wednesday.

After eight seasons filled with lopsided memories, he was shipped by the Hornets to the Boston Celtics in the 2019 offseason. Walker then enjoyed a relative playoff success donning the green uniform, wherein he had his first career trip to the Eastern Conference Finals the following year. It was in last season that injuries and inconsistencies bothered his performance for the Cs, as they succumbed in the first round from the hands of the Brooklyn Nets in five games.

Upon inking a two-year $19 million contract with his hometown squad Knicks, Walker experienced bumps throughout this 2021-2022 campaign together with the organization. His shutdown served as the final coffin throughout this own challenging process, wherein he recorded an average of 11.6 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 boards, and 40 percent shooting following the decision to be shelved out of team activities.

There might be a big possibility that the former star guard will land on a new squad on draft night or free agency because of his expiring contract. As such, time will only tell if the Hornets will entertain an idea of a reunion with their former cornerstone.
