So, Uncle Drew went back in time and schooled some youngbloods. But in reality, a young Kyrie Irving poured 57 points on an ageing San Antonio Spurs unit.
POP: KYRIE WAS UNSTOPPABLE
San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was the first to admit that you just couldn’t guard Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving, after the FIBA World Cup MVP single-handedly gave the Cavs the win in OT.
Via Akron Beacon Journal:
“Kyrie Irving was unstoppable. I don’t know how to guard that,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “He did a hell of a job. We all know how talented he is, but he really went to a new level tonight. He had a hell of a night and that talent just got us.”
PAUL GEORGE LOOKS TO BE DOING THE RIGHT THING
The Indiana Pacers are in a good place right now. They have won 7 straight and team chemistry is good.
The key thing is not to mess that chemistry up, which is what Paul George feels he would do if he decided to come back. George, who broke his leg last summer in the USA intersquad scrimmage is in line to return sooner than expected but he might have other ideas.
Via Indianapolis Star:
When asked directly, George paused, took a thoughtful breath, and said while he still wants to return, he doesn’t want to risk jeopardizing the Pacers’ recent strong play, which has seen the team win seven straight and 13 of their last 15.
“I’m on the fence,” George said. “Part of me is, they’re playing so well, they’ve come together, to shake up the chemistry and add another body, another player in there… I don’t want to be that guy that destroys what these guys have going.”
“It’s different if this was the beginning of the year and we were still trying to find our way,” George said. “But these guys are playing at the top of their game right now and the last thing I want to do is slow them down.”
CALDERON PREDICTS THAT HE WILL BE A KNICK
Well, so his logic tells us anyway..
“There’s nothing set in stone in the NBA, but logic dictates I will be here next year. I’m only 33. Physically, I’m better than ever and very happy about it. You go through bad years, but time puts everybody in their place. There’s many people that want to see me retired, but I hope I can stay here to win that title” said Calderon.
