France’s Nicolas Batum, one of the core players for Portland Trail Blazers decided he will play in this year’s EuroBasket that will take place for the first time ever in four countries. Croatia, Germany, Latvia and France.

Foward, who is averaging 9.5 points per game this season, said this about his plans to play in front of home country crowd this summer:

“I always dream about playing a major tournament in France. It’s different to play for your country — in your country. We’re not a big country like USA and the USA Team. But when we go to Europe and we play in front of our own crowd, you can feel something different, something special. It’s like the playoffs. It’s different.

“It’s like when you go to war for your country. You think about yourself, your family and your job. Sometimes, you have to go for your country.”

France will play the group stage in Montpellier, against Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Poland and Israel.
