The Lakers managed to come back from being 17 points down against the Clippers to take a two-point lead with 28 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter but were unable to hold on the advantage.

With 12 seconds on the clock the purple and gold were still up by a single point (110-109). Reggie Jackson then scored a layup to put the Clippers ahead.

The Lakers had the final possession of the game with 4 seconds left to play. Anthony Davis dribbled from coast to coast and took a floater which rimmed out.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said after the game. “I was proud how our guys fought back. Great competitive spirit, great will to win. They did whatever they needed to do to pull that out.

“The last two shots the Clippers had we were a fingertip away from blocking. Both at the rim on Jackson’s layup and Trevor made a hell of a play on Morris to make a great contest in the corner.

“And AD’s ball was down. It’s one of those in-and-out situations. It’s a cruel game sometimes. This is a tough loss but plenty to build on.”
