Rajon Rondo and the Los Angeles Lakers officially parted ways as the 35-year-old point guard was sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a deal involving three teams.

It was the second spell for Rondo with the purple and gold. Last time, his time with the Lakers culminated with him winning his second NBA championship.

This season, Rondo saw his playing time and opportunities shrink, as he averaged 3.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 16.1 minutes over 18 games.

In this trade, the Lakers acquired from the Knicks the draft rights to 29-year-old French forward/center Louis Labeyrie, who has been playing for Spanish side Valencia since 2018.

New York received Denzel Valentine from Cleveland and the draft rights to Brad Newley, the draft rights to Wang Zhelin and cash from the Lakers, per NBA.com.
