Kyrie Irving will need some time to return to form before he makes his season debut with the Brooklyn Nets.

According to Brooklyn head coach Steve Nash, Kyrie Irving will need ‘one to two weeks’ to be ready for his first appearance with the team.

“It’s hard to say, but I would say probably somewhere between a week and two weeks. He’s obviously been isolating, so that kind of puts another layer to the ramp-up.

It’s not like he’s been working out so probably I’d imagine it’s going to be closer to two weeks once he comes out of protocols. We’ll just have to see how it goes, though. We have to evaluate him from a physical and performance standpoint and a basketball standpoint as well,” Nash told reporters, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

Kyrie Irving remains unvaccinated, therefore he will not play at Barclays Center or Madison Square Garden. He will be able to practice in Brooklyn and play in road games, though.

Starting from the clash with the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, Brooklyn has seven of its next nine games at home. Therefore, Irving could make his debut either vs the Indiana Pacers (January 5) or the Cleveland Cavaliers (January 12).

For the time being, both him and Kevin Durant remain in the Covid-19 protocols and will clear quarantine on Tuesday.
