Israeli point guard Gal Mekel is being targeted by EA7 Milano following Trenton Meacham’s departure to French side ASVEL Lyon.

Mekel’s time in the NBA has been largely ineffective with the 26-year-old struggling to make a true impact, averaging just 2.3 points in his two seasons, and only starting one of his total 35 games with both Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans.

So an escape back to Europe looks very likely for the playmaker, who played in Italy for Benetton Treviso back in 2011 and is a two-time Israeli Superleague MVP and champion.

Meanwhile, American guard Meacham has been allowed to leave the Italian champions after an unsuccessful stint, where he never really looked part of coach Luca Banchi’s plans.

Meacham averaged 1.0 points a game and looked to spend more time on the bench rather than fulfilling his potential on the court.

The 29-year-old will return to France where he has agreed terms with ASVEL. He previously had spells with Paris Levallois and Nanterre. Meacham also played in the 2014 French League All-Star game.
