The Staples Center will be renamed to Crypto.com Arena and the Los Angeles Clippers superstar Paul George believes this would be like stripping away the history of the iconic stadium.

After a 37-point performance on Tuesday night vs. Spurs, PG13 shared his thoughts on the Arena changing name, which cost a reported $700 million for the naming rights.

Staples Center has been home to the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers for a long time now. The Arena housed some of the biggest names in basketball history.

“I grew up with … Staples Center being the place to play & the place to be. It will definitely be weird. It’s the same location, but it‘s kind of stripping the history here… Good thing we won’t be here too long,” George said after the Clippers’ 92-106 win over the Spurs.

The name change will be adopted starting December 25, 2021. Shams Charania also reported this will be the largest venue naming rights deal to date.
