Damian Lillard has been undoubtedly the biggest star to play in Portland, the last 10 years. The Blazers are suffering from several ups and downs since the start of this season.
The Blazers are lacking a legit playmaker in the half-court since Lillard became the team’s building block. Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported Portland’s continued interest in the three-time All-Star during an appearance on the HoopsHype Podcast.
“The Blazers would love to have him. (Damian) Lillard has been obsessed with getting him there for a while,” Slater said.
“Late last season, they went 15-5 down the stretch, and they went small without Wiseman, which fits Draymond. His foot healed, his conditioning was back, the stakes were back. Green kind of needs high stakes basketball to care. He always kind of stinks when his team stinks because he just stops caring.”
Lillard played alongside Green with Team USA at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. The Blazers tried to find the right combination of players around Lillard and backcourt mate CJ McCollum.
They reached the Western Conference Finals in 2019, but failed to advance beyond the first round of the playoffs in the last two seasons.
