Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers added another chapter to their rift on Thursday, as the franchise decided to rule the three-time All-Star out indefinitely, after Simmons declared he was mentally exhausted.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Simmons will meet with the Sixers on the Friday shootaround prior to the game vs. the Brooklyn Nets, to discuss his playing status with the team.

Simmons has yet to play a game since he reported back to the Philadelphia 76ers in the last week of the preseason. A few days back, Simmons was thrown out of 76ers’ practice for ‘detrimental conduct.’

After demanding a trade this summer and holding out for most of the training camp, Simmons and the 76ers started working towards a resolution this past week.

The Sixers believe the situation with Simmons is still salvageable; however, this option is getting more and more unlikely as the days pass.
