Boston Celtics offered a new contract to Jabari Parker, after the Chicago native cleared waivers, Shams Charania of the Athletic reports.

The Celtics waived the veteran forward on Sunday, as his $2.3 million salary was set to guarantee at the beginning of the season.

Parker appeared in 10 games with the Celtics during the 2020-21 season, averaging 6.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 13.8 minutes played per game.

He joined Boston, after the Atlanta Hawks traded him to the Sacramento Kings during the 2019-20 season. The second overall pick of the 2014 had a bad run with injuries at the early stage of his career.

Parker dealt with several injuries throughout his career, including tearing the ACL in his left knee twice and lingering shoulder issues.

The Celtics open the 2021-22 season on Wednesday against the New York Knicks.
