Los Angeles Lakers guard Malik Monk will be out of action for one week, as he is dealing with a groin injury.

Frank Vogel, Lakers head coach, revealed the news on Sunday. He told reporters Monk has a strained groin and a re-evaluation of his condition will take place in a week. The young guard will not play in the remaining preseason games.

According to Vogel, the Lakers are hopeful Malik Monk will be available for the season opener of the NBA on October 19. The multiple time champions will host the Golden State Warriors at Staples Center.
