Carmelo Anthony made his preseason debut with the Los Angeles Lakers in a game against the Phoenix Suns. The 37-year-old forward started for his new team and spent 17 minutes on the floor as he collected 8 points and 2 rebounds.

This was also Anthony’s first game alongside Anthony Davis, a player that he is used to playing against while being on other teams. According to the Lakers newcomer, it was a good experience which helps them get used to playing together.

“There’s a lot of positives with that,” Melo said postgame. “It’s different playing against him and then scouting against him as opposed to being on court with him. Getting the feel for where he liked the ball at sets how we can play together. A lot of time on the court we’re very interchangeable in that position. Just a feel for the game, something we just got to get used to.”

The Lakers ended up losing the game 105-117. They remain winless in preseason having previously lost against the Brooklyn Nets.
