LeBron James will have two superstars on the Los Angeles Lakers this coming season after Russell Westbrook joined him and Anthony Davis via a trade this past summer. When talking about his new teammate during the media day, the four-time NBA champion stressed the importance of Westbrook being himself.

“We need Russ to be Russ,” LeBron said when speaking about expectations for Westbrook. “We don’t need Russ to change for anybody. That’s why we got him. That’s our job to help him feel comfortable in our system. He’s going to be as dynamic as he’s always been. I look forward to that.”

“Just his passion alone,” James said when asked if there is anything unique he sees in Westbrook. “Very passionate about the sport, very passionate about his craft and very passionate about putting in work. One thing about him I can respect all those things. We’ve been tied at the hip pretty much since we made the acquisition. We’re going to continue to do that.

“We’re gonna hold each other accountable. AD’s gonna hold us accountable, we’re gonna hold AD accountable because it’s starting with us. We look forward to that. We look forward to continuing to getting better and figuring out ways to be the best team we can be by bringing our individual talents to that.”
