Lauri Markkanen is ready for a new start with the Cleveland Cavaliers, after spending the first four years of his career with the Chicago Bulls.

The Finnish forward expressed his happiness for a new start with a new team, while he threw a jab at his previous team, the Chicago Bulls, calling out the coaching staff.

“I feel like I get to play basketball the way I know rather than just having to play one role,” said Markkanen on the difference between the Bulls and the Cavs. “After talking with the coaching staff, I feel like it’s pretty free here.”

The former first-round pick has career averages of 15.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game on 44.0 percent shooting from the field and 36.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Spending most of the last season coming off the bench, Markkanen will have the chance to show his skills in a more prominent role with the rebuilding Cleveland Cavaliers this season.
