Denver Nuggets decided to bet on Michael Porter Jr. to become the third superstar alongside Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Both sides are in talks about an early rookie extension.

In a recent interview with Mike Singer of The Denver Post, Porter talked about where the discussion about his contract extension stands.

“Everything is sounding great, in the direction that I’d like to be headed,” Porter said. “Nothing is set in stone, but everything is going smooth as far as that goes.”

The Nuggets’ young star is entering the last year of his rookie contract, after an incredible run in the Orlando ‘bubble’ and a great 2020-21 season in Denver.

Last season, Porter appeared in 61 games with the Nuggets, averaging 19.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and shooting 54 percent from the field and 44 percent from the three-point range.
