Dwight Howard joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the third time in his career. The 35-year-old center spent the last season with the Philadelphia 76ers after his first championship with the Purple and Gold in 2020.

According to the 8-time NBA All-Star, he returned to Los Angeles because of his love for the city and the opportunity to win another championship. “Love for this city… And just the opportunity to win,” Howard said, per Harrison Faigen.

“I just think that like, we’re supposed to be together. Something about the Lakers and myself, we’re supposed to be together.”

“Winning a championship would bring some balance to a lot of us. Because we old, and we grumpy (laughs),” Howard added.

This past season, Howard averaged 7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game for the Sixers.
