Lauri Markkanen is a restricted free agent, and the Charlotte Hornets seem to be interested in acquiring him this offseason.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Charlotte is strongly interested in potentially presenting an offer sheet to the Finnish sharpshooting forward.

During the 2020-21 season, Markkanen averaged 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 25.8 minutes over 51 games with the Chicago Bulls. He finished the season shooting 48.0 percent from deep on four attempts per game.

The Bulls are not expected to match any big offer for Markkanen considering they are hard-capped after signing DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso.

For the Hornets, a potential deal for Markkanen will bring more shooting and another versatile big to surround the 2020 Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball.
