The Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards are discussing a trade that would send Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for Russell Westbrook, according to Shams Charania.

The Lakers would also be sending the No. 22 pick in tonight’s draft to the Wizards, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Westbrook wants a move elsewhere and the Lakers are his preferred destination, Charania notes.

The 32-year-old would give the Lakers a dynamic playmaker alongside stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Westbrook, who is a native of Southern California, has two years remaining on his contract.

However, there is no agreement in place and still work to be done, but talks with the Sacramento Kings on a possible Buddy Hield deal had also been ongoing between the two teams.

From the Wizards standpoint, this is a potential deal that they want to make with star Bradley Beal in mind, as they could create more cap space to add more talent around Beal, Wojnarowski suggests.

As a side note, Beal is “extremely close” friends with Caldwell-Pope, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.
