Kyrie Irving was loudly booed in his return to Boston Garden during Game 3 of the series between the Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics.

Irving was asked about the reception postgame and said he was fine with the reception since the focus remained solely on basketball.

“It’s basketball. I’ve been in a few environments in my life. As long as it’s just strictly the nature of basketball out there and nothing extra I’m cool with it,” Irving said.

The Celtics are expected to have full capacity on Sunday’s Game 4 as the COVID-19 restrictions for indoor crowds will be lifted Saturday.

“We’re expecting a bigger crowd on Sunday,” Irving said on Sunday’s game, per Brian Robb of Mass Live. “Happy it was a great start to seeing what this environment is going to be like. Just looking forward to the challenge.”

The Nets are hoping to bounce back from Friday’s loss in Game 4 Sunday as they need two more wins to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
