The Lakers are still among the betting favorites to win the NBA championship ahead of play-in game vs the Warriors on Wednesday.
Despite being in the play-in tournament, the Lakers still have the oddsmakers give them solid odds to repeat. Aside from the Lakers, the Nets, Clippers, Jazz and Sixers are also odds-on favorites to claim the title.
The Lakers and the Warriors will face each other in the play-in tournament, with the winner going on to play the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.
Whoever loses, though, will battle the winner of Grizzlies – Spurs game for the eighth place in the West and a matchup with top-seeded Utah Jazz.
The defending champions are presented as the favorite in the early betting odds. Yet, Curry and co. have defied the (betting) odds multiple times this season, so that could create a “gambling problem” to any bettor that is confident for the Lakers’ win.
With Stephen Curry being unstoppable, the Warriors want to force a high-scoring game against the team with the best defensive rating (106.8 points per 100 possessions) in the NBA.
