Gorgui Dieng is expected to sign a contract with the San Antonio Spurs once he clears waivers. The Memphis Grizzlies bought out Dieng, after the trade deadline Thursday.

The Spurs will have to clear a roster spot to sign the veteran big, and for that reason, they released Marquese Chriss, according to Shams Charania.

Marc Stein reported that several teams had interest in Dieng, however the Spurs won the race, as they found a player to replace Aldridge.

Aldrigde has been released, and he will join the Brooklyn Nets upon clearing waivers. Dieng averages 7.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest through 537 NBA games in his career.
