Before Dell Curry became an NBA 3-point specialist, he was actually a college pitcher for Virginia Tech with big league potential. The Baltimore Orioles selected Curry in the 14th round of the 1985 MLB Draft and wanted him to leave school for rookie camp. However, Dell’s baseball dreams were quickly shut down by his dad.

“I was drafted by the Orioles and they wanted me to leave school and go to rookie camp. My dad said ‘What the hell is wrong with you? You ain’t going nowhere! You’re staying in college and playing basketball.’ A lot of my dad’s buddies would tell you I was better as a baseball pitcher than I was at basketball early on.”
