Before bringing home the 2019-20 NBA championship, TNT’s Kenny Smith gave his honest opinion of LeBron James. He stated that he struggles to put LeBron over the greats such as: Kareem, Magic, Wilt and Jordan. He thinks LeBron is the tenth greatest basketball player of all-time and that nowadays, it’s easier to score which makes the game a bit more easier for players. But, he then added that although he isn’t top five, he could easily be when it’s all said and done.
Months later… after winning the title, Kenny had a change of heart. He stated: “LeBron moved up up my list. He passed the Larry Bird, Magic status. So…. now he’s in the top five.” Goes to show how much of an impact winning a single championship can have on a players legacy.
