The Dallas Mavericks young superstar Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA in just his third season, despite being only 22 years old. Naturally, he gets compared to some of the league’s greats. A popular comparison is to Larry Bird.
According to the Slovenian phenom, it is too early for him to be compared to a player like Bird. “I saw a lot of films how he played. But you can’t compare me to Larry Bird,” Doncic told Rachel Nicholls of ESPN.
“The things he’s done there are more more games to go a long time so you can’t compare me to Larry Bird. I just want to keep hooping, having fun out there playing basketball.”
Most recently, Doncic helped the Dallas Mavericks defeat the Brooklyn Nets 115-98, as he dropped 27 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists. This season, he is averaging 28.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 9 assists per game.
