LeBron James has quite the season so far leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the best record in the league. The 36-year-old superstar has also become a favorite to win the MVP award this season, according to several sportsbooks, as ESPN reports.
James has played every single game while averaging 25.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.4 assists. The update on the odds were made almost after his 46-point performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday.
James had a monster fourth quarter as he dropped 21 points to lead the Lakers to the win on a close-fought game. James is a steady presence in favorites for the award list every season.
The four-time MVP has not won the award since 2013. James finished runner-up to Giannis Antetokounmpo last year, James Harden in 2018 and Kevin Durant in 2014.
If he wins it this season, he will join Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6), Michael Jordan (5) and Bill Russell (5) as the only players in league history to win at least five MVP trophies.
