As the Philadelphia 76ers await a league ruling on their game on Jan. 9, a member of the team’s training staff has tested positive for COVID-19, per Shams Charania.

The positive test has led to additional contact tracing within the team and the NBA is continuing its review process.

The 76ers could be short of the league-required eight players to play against the Denver Nuggets, as seven players are in the health and safety protocol due to close contact to Seth Curry who tested positive for COVID-19.

Along with Curry, Terrance Ferguson and Mike Scott have already been ruled out due to personal reasons and a left knee contusion, respectively.

Currently, the team only has six available players: Ben Simmons, centers Dwight Howard and Tony Bradley, rookie guards Tyrese Maxey and Isaiah Joe and guard Dakota Mathias.

The 76ers bused back to Philadelphia and the Nuggets flew into Philadelphia on the night of Jan. 9, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

If the game is ultimately postponed, it will be the second such game of the season, as the Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder had an opening night game postponed when the Rockets only had seven players eligible.
