Draymond Green was not available for the Golden State Warriors’ opener vs. Nets, and he will also miss Christmas Day matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Draymond Green will not play Friday at Milwaukee as the power forward still needs to see some improvement in his injured right foot before returning, head coach Steve Kerr said via the San Francisco Chronicle.

Green is dealing with a foot injury. The Warriors are missing an important part of their defensive identity, when the veteran forward is not playing.

“Draymond has been our heart and soul for as long as I’ve been here, and we need his fire,” head coach Steve Kerr said. “He’s going to inspire us when he’s back.

He’ll bring the level of competition up and the level of defense up. We look forward to that, and we hope it’s not too long.”

The Warriors started the season on a disappointing note, as they succumbed to a blowout loss in the game vs. Brooklyn.
