Atlanta Hawks point guard Rajon Rondo will miss the team’s opening game against the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 23 due to NBA COVID-19 protocols.

On the NBA’s official injury report, Rondo is listed as out because of “health and safety protocols.”

The 34-year-old’s absence is related to him attending a funeral last weekend, but he reportedly didn’t test positive for COVID-19, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.

It’s unclear when Rondo will be cleared to return to action.

The Hawks will also be without guard Kris Dunn (knee), swingman Tony Snell (foot), rookie center Onyeka Okongwu (foot) and center Clint Capela is doubtful with Achilles soreness.
