Anthony Davis will not wear LeBron James’ No.23 next season and will stick to the number he wore last season (No.3).

James wanted to give Davis his number in the 2020/21 season, while he would have switched to the number he wore during his time with the Miami Heat (No.6).

However, Davis decided to retain No.3, which also is the number he wore in high school.

“However, it seems No. 3 grew on Davis, as according to a team spokesperson, he will not be switching jersey numbers this year. He will stick with the only number he’s worn for the purple and gold — and the number he wore in high school — as he starts his new, five-year contract in Los Angeles,” Harrison Faigen of SB Nation reports.

Davis and James recently signed new contracts with the Lakers and now have their sights set on successful defending their title.
