Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is expected to decline his player option and become a free agent in the coming offseason.

Per Shams Charania, Caldwell-Pope will opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and test free agency.

However, the versatile guard and the Lakers have mutual interest to sign a new deal, yet several teams may express interest to acquire Caldwell-Pope.

“After establishing himself as a key player heading into next season, Caldwell-Pope is expected to decline his $8.5 million player option, sources said.

There’s significant mutual interest between Caldwell-Pope and the Lakers, but there will be some external suitors,” Shams Charania reports.

Other players, like Rajon Rondo and Jerami Grant, are also expected to decline their player options and become free agents.
