Anthony Davis said he wanted to guard Jimmy Butler following the loss of the Los Angeles Lakers to the Miami Heat in Game 3.

Butler posted a monster triple double (40 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists) and exposed all defensive flaws of the Lakers.

After the defeat, Davis told his teammates and coaches he wanted to guard Butler in Game 4.

“We felt like we got bullied. I just tried to be locked in to him. We know that the past … the last game, he kind of just took over and imposed his will on the game on both ends of the floor, and we just tried to give him a different look.

Tried to make him shoot over a contested hand, finishing over the length at the rim. Just make it tough for him. It was very easy for him in Game 3,” Davis told reporters, via Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Butler had 22 points (on 8-of-17 shooting), 10 rebounds, and nine assists in Game 4, while Davis scored 22 points and grabbed nine boards.

The Lakers lead the series 3-1. Game 5 is on Friday.
