Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo said he has to be smart about avoiding “ticky-tack” fouls against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.

“We can’t just let them get free layups and get in motion. That’s when everything starts clicking for them,” Adebayo said.

Foul trouble wasn’t an issue for Adebayo in the regular season, but in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics, he averaged 3.3 fouls per game.

After Dwight Howard played physical on Nikola Jokic and got him into foul trouble on multiple occasions in the Western Conference Finals, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Lakers use the same tactics and go right at Adebayo.

“They are shot-blockers. That’s one thing they are gifted with,” Adebayo said about Howard and Anthony Davis.

The 23-year-old also went on to say he needs to continue to play his style of basketball to combat the two Lakers big men.
