The Philadelphia 76ers seem to be narrowing down their search for the head coaching vacancy with former Houston Rockets’ head coach Mike D’Antoni being the front-runner.

According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, it seems like the job is Mike D’Antoni’s to lose. The veteran coach already met with the Sixers ownership group and GM Elton Brand.

The sources have said it’s hard to tell who’s in charge because of ownership’s earlier-than-expected involvement. Sources have been saying for weeks that the job is D’Antoni’s to turn down. They say he’s the guy the ownership group wants. One source even said the 69-year-old would have to bomb his interview with the Sixers owners not to be offered the job.

D’Antoni is famous for his five-out system we witnessed in Phoenix and Houston. However, this style of play seems to not matching with the Sixers’ roster at this moment.
