One of the reasons the Philadelphia 76ers have interest in Mike D’Antoni is a feeling within some in the organization that he could help lure James Harden.

Harden can become a free agent in two years and there is a possibility of a trade, according to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The 76ers ownership reportedly wants to hire D’Antoni.

If that ultimately happens, there are also reports that the 76ers would make trades with him as their head coach.

The expectation is that he would “have a say in picking players for his freewheeling style of play”.

D’Antoni’s game plan of emphasizing speed and scoring, that would presumably be welcomed by Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris, is part of the appeal in order for the 76ers to go hard after D’Antoni.
