The Sacramento Kings are still committed to Luke Walton for their head coach position, after the hiring of new general manager Monte Mcnair, per Sam Amick.

Sam Amick of The Athletic joined HoopsHype podcast with Michael Scotto and indicated Luke Walton will remain as the head coach.

“I think [Walton]’s definitely fine for the foreseeable future. I do think that the message was sent ultimately to Monte, because that’s who they hired, that they’re pretty invested both financially and kind of spiritually in Luke, although the finances I think are playing a massive part there,” Amick said.

After Vlade Divac stepped down from the GM role, the Kings contacted a search to hire an executive to become the head of the front office.

McNair took over the Kings having several matters at hand. Namely, Bogdan Bogdanovic will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, while the new GM is going to select Walton’s lead assistant, after the departure of Igor Kokoskov.
