Kevin Durant was the latest guest in JJ Redick’s podcast and discussed his decision on signing with the Brooklyn Nets, as he wanted to focus solely on basketball.

“I wanted to live in New York. I felt like Brooklyn was everything I’m about. Chill, on the low, all black everything, we quiet. Just focus on basketball. There’s no show when you come to our games, there’s no Madison Square Mecca. All of that s***. We just gonna hoop,” Durant said, per the BigLead.

Durant signed a four-year contract with the Nets, despite the fact that he was received a max-contract offer by the Warriors.

“I never planned on going to the Knicks. That was just … the media put that out there,” Durant admitted.

However, he wanted to focus on basketball and his game with the Nets trying to become relevant in the New York basketball scene.

The signing of Kyrie Irving was also a big factor, as Brooklyn became one of the favorites to win a championship in the next few years.

Durant will be playing his first game with the Nets at the start of next season.
