Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook will miss the team’s Game 3 against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Aug. 22 with his strained quadriceps.

Westbrook was reportedly able to get some work in at today’s practice, but they will play it safe and wait until he is fully ready to return for the playoff push.

The Rockets are up 2-0 in the series and if they win Game 3, there’s a good chance that Westbrook sits out Game 4 as well.

“We’re going to be careful with Russ,” head coach Mike D’Antoni recently said. “He’s just too valuable to just throw out there no matter the situation.”

Westbrook’s latest MRI showed healing and improvement compared to his first MRI last week.
