Gregg Popovich was always critical against President Donald Trump, since he was elected. In his last interview in the Orlando “bubble”, Pop called the Spurs’ playoff streak ending “fake news”.

“That’s fake news. That’s total fake news! Lots of guys have been telling me the streak hasn’t ended! I talk to people all the time. They call me. They tell me, ‘Pop, the streak didn’t end! It didn’t end!'” Popovich jokingly said.

After the end of the game versus the Utah Jazz, San Antonio 22-year streak of consecutive playoff appearances came to an end.

Furthermore, this will be the second time Gregg Popovich will not get to play with the Spurs in the postseason.

The last time Popovich didn’t get to the playoffs was his rookie year as the Spurs’ head coach in the 1996-97 season.
