The debut NBA season for Luka Doncic was one of the best of all time among rookies. But, the 21-year-old Slovenian talent is not slowing down. This year, Doncic became an All-Star and his name often comes up in the MVP talks.

The Mavericks’ young star is also a candidate to win the Most Improved Player award. Doncic’s stats increased from 21.2 points, 7.8 points and 6 assists to 29.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game this season.

But, Luka does not think he deserves the Most Improved Player award. He thinks another player should receive it instead.

“Take me off the [MIP candidates] list and put Devonte’ Graham on there. I don’t deserve to be on there,” Doncic told Brad Townsend of Dallas Morning News.

The 25-year-old Charlotte Hornets point guard has improved significantly since last season. Graham was averaging 4.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game last year. This season his stats increased to 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 7.5 assists.

Graham saw Luka’s quote about him deserving the MIP award and reacted to it on Twitter by tweeting “Respect.”
