The Washington Wizards have signed Jarrod Uthoff ahead of the NBA’s restart.

The 6’9 forward had an excellent collegiate career at Iowa. In his junior year (2015-16), he averaged 18.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He shot 38.2 percent on 3-pointers.

He went undrafted and has spent most of his professional career in G-League and Europe. He played nine games with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2016-17 season and four games with the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this season.

Uthoff is known for his shooting and could be a valuable asset for the Wizards. Davis Bertans, another big man known for his shooting, had a big season, but opted out of returning.

Washington’s leading sorcerer, Bradley Beal, is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

This is Uthoff’s opportunity to prove he belongs in the NBA and earn another contract in the offseason.
