Lil Wayne debuted his hit single “Kobe Bryant” following Bryant’s remarkable performance in Game 6 of the 2009 Western Conference Finals. Bryant finished with 35 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds to knock the Nuggets out in six games. The song reveals Lil Wayne’s admiration for Kobe’s work ethic, drive, and success. In addition, Wayne was also interviewed while sitting courtside at a Lakers game and stated: “He (Kobe) not only inspires songs, but inspires me in life.”

Earlier today at the B.E.T Awards, Wayne added an extra verse to his single “Kobe Bryant” in tribute to the late Black Mamba. He mentions how Kobe is watching over everybody and how his “heart goes out to Vanessa and the whole Mamba family”.
