Former NBA champion and teammate of LeBron James Kendrick Perkins took to Twitter to make a point about the mental toughness of the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar. With all the comparisons between Michael Jordan and James taking place, Perkins pointed at a time when LeBron returned to Cleveland and won a championship after being called a coward and traitor by the team owner.

“Y’all remember that LETTER than Dan Gilbert wrote about LeBron James when he left Cleveland the First Time…Bron still came back to deliver a Championship for the State Of OHIO!! Talking about mental toughness. Carry on…” Perkins tweeted.

In 2010, when James decided to leave Cleveland and sign with the Miami Heat, team owner Dan Gilbert released a public letter in which he called LeBron’s departure a ‘cowardly betrayal’ and promised the Cavs’ fans that the team will win a championship before James will.

It didn’t turn out that way in the end. LeBron won two championships with the Miami Heat and only after he returned to Cleveland the Cavaliers finally got their first title in 2016.
