Although LeBron James is about to enter his 24th NBA season, it is not impossible to chase his fifth championship before retiring for good.
It has already been weeks since James entered free agency and announced that he would not play for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Meanwhile, James’ longtime agent, Rich Paul, said it is no longer about chasing another championship.
“He’s not chasing a ring, but when you’ve worked this hard to position yourself the way you have and you can actually decide what you wanna do, who wouldn’t take advantage of that?” Paul said.
Speaking to Kendrick Perkins on NBA Today, he disagreed with Paul’s claim that James does not want to earn another ring.
“He’s lying to me, LeBron is chasing a ring and it’s ok. He’s trying to see where’s the best fit so he can get his farewell tour and end his career the right way. I think he’s doing the right thing by being patient. Rich Paul can say what he wants, but at the end of the day if we’re going to speak facts over feelings, there’s no way we can sit on national television and say LeBron is not trying to go get another championship,” Perkins explained.
James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game for the Los Angeles Lakers after playing 60 regular season games, shooting 51.5% from the field this previous season.
Wherever the four-time champion goes, the team will have an asset capable of propelling them into a playoff run.
